Navy senior captain Julia Bailey has been to the Patriot League Championships and come away wearing a championship cap all four times.
Now, after having helped the Navy women win their fifth-straight league title with a sweep of all three varsity events on Worcester's Lake Quinsigmond Friday, the only two things left for her academy career is graduation, and the NCAA Championships in Indianapolis in two weeks.
Navy won all three varsity events and totaled 54 points to take the league championships and earn an automatic qualification to race on the final weekend of the season at the NCAA Championships.
Bucknell University finished second in the three varsity races and totaled 48 team points. Boston University finished third in the varsity eight, fourth in the second varsity eight and third in the varsity four to tally 39 points and tie with Georgetown University, which also totaled 39 team points with a fourth-place finish in the varsity eight, and third place finishes in the second varsity eight and varsity four.
"This has been awesome," Bailey said. "There are no words to describe the feeling of putting in the hard work and finally having everything come to fruition and everything culminate at this moment.
"As a team this year, we started off a lot stronger than we have in the past, and that put us ahead of where we have been at this point. And I think using the momentum we created all season going into NCAA is going to put us in a great position. We want to see how far we can go."
Navy coach Joe Schlosberg was named Patriot League Coach of the Year and said he was pleased with his team's conference finish and is looking forward to training and making any necessary tune-ups in the next two weeks of practice before NCAA racing.
"We're looking forward to having two more weeks of the season, and getting to train and go up against some of the best schools out there," Schlosberg said. "Leading into today, we've had some years where some crazy things have happen to the team, and it was nice to finally get all three boats clicking on some level and be able to win all three events.
"I think we are walking away today seeing where we need to make some adjustments moving forward," he said. "We felt good with where we were with our training, and we just needed to fine tune some things. We had some good heats results, solid, comfortable, and I think we need to make sure that we are ready to rise to a whole new level in Indianapolis."
